The Landscape Management Plan, produced by the NWD NL team on behalf of the Council of Partners, sets out the ambitions and approach for managing the North Wessex Downs National Landscape.  This special place requires careful and considered management by all stakeholders and those who have a responsibility for it. The purpose of the National Landscape (AONB) designation is to ‘conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area’.

The existing Management Plan has been reviewed and updated by the NL Team and others.  We are now conducting a public consultation and you have the opportunity to comment on the draft documents via an online survey. Note: some elements within the draft Plan eg data, are subject to updating and where this is the case this will be shown by square brackets like [this].  References will be finalised later.

The public consultation period will end at midnight on Wednesday 30 April 2025.

After this, the draft documents will be reviewed in light of any comments and feedback.  Any changes made as a response to the consultation will be approved by the Council of Partners and then the Management Plan will be presented to the nine partner Local Authorities and Natural England. The Local Authorities will then be asked to formally adopt the Plan.  This process will take up to seven months.

Public Webinars: 16th, 23rd and 25th April 2025

We are holding three public webinar events.  Come along to find out more about the Management Plan – what it is, why it’s important, and identifying some of the changes we have made.  There will also be the opportunity to ask questions.  We anticipate that the events will last about an hour but have allowed for more time if there is a desire for more in-depth discussion.  When you register you will receive a confirmation email from Wiltshire Council who host the National Landscape team.
