The Landscape Trust – a charity – was set up in 2017; its mission: to inspire and engage support, involvement and action in conserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape.
Since 2017 the Trust has managed the North Wessex Downs Sustainable Development Fund on behalf of the Council of Partners.
Working with enterprises, schools and colleges, local authorities, communities, land and property owners, other charities and individuals, the Trust seeks to:

- Acquire resources for landscape and wildlife conservation projects and activities.
- Develop projects and initiatives to protect, conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area and its wildlife.

- Encourage and support productive use of the land in ways that contribute to the long-term health, sustainability and natural beauty of the landscape.
- Understand and respond to emerging opportunities in technology, employment and society that can assist in the long-term prosperity and health of local communities and enterprises in ways that conserve and enhance the local ecology, landscape and wildlife.
- Understand and respond to emerging threats to the sustainability and future value of the area, and emerging opportunities to enhance its value.
