Mend the Gap

The Mend the Gap programme aims to enhance the areas of the North Wessex Downs and Chilterns AONBs that have been negatively impacted by the electrification of the Great Western Railway. We aim to identify and support projects that will contribute towards softening the scars left by the electrification of the mainline by enhancing and enriching the affected landscape for wildlife, residents and visitors.

This fund is aimed at supporting a range of projects that bring environmental, social and economic benefits to the North Wessex Downs AONB. Grants are generally small with the majority being between £1,000 and £3,000.

The SDF Programme for 2021-22 is now fully committed. We will soon be launching the SDF Programme for 2022-23 with a new, simpler process and revised guidelines. Watch this space for updates. In the meantime, we welcome informal enquiries about potential project funding applications. For initial advice and guidance please contact the North Wessex Downs Landscape Trust
