Faccombe Manor Estate

Faccombe Manor Estate, near Andover totals 1,700 hectares run on a traditional mixed farming system with arable and 1300 sheep. Other enterprises include woodland management with pheasant and deer shoot.

During the day you will investigate crops and farm machinery, visit sheep and lambs, and take a tractor-trailer ride to the wind turbine, which supplies electricity to the estate. There is an opportunity to learn about the work of the gamekeepers and foresters, watch a gun dog demonstration and explore the wildlife in the woods.

Hampshire Country Learning organises curriculum linked Countryside Days for schools on farm estates. Twilight briefing sessions are available before the open days along with support materials. To find out when this estate day is, log on to website below or contact Jo Britton.
