Walking Festival 2019 - Useful Information

  • Home

Full details of each walk, and booking details, are listed on each walk detail page.

Booking and tickets

All walks require advance online booking, which is provided by The Little Box Office, and payment taken where required. Booking is very simple and quick, and you can add more than one walk to your basket so you can add your details only once. Please list the walkers’ names and contact details in case of cancellation and details of a contact in case of emergency on the day (ie, next of kin) when prompted. Your ticket will be emailed to you which you should print off (or carry on your mobile phone) and bring with you to the walk.

There will be a maximum of 20 people on a walk. Some are limited to a lower number.

Ticket pricing

Most walks are free (but still require booking) but for some there is a fee and therefore a charge is payable at the time of booking online (unless otherwise specified on the walk information itself).  There will be no refunds available if you are unable to attend the walk or miss the start of the walk; refunds will only be payable if the walk leader needs to cancel for any reason.

Some walks are suitable for dogs on short leads. If you wish to bring your dog, please check that your chosen walk allows them.

Together, the events have tried to cater for a range of ages, abilities and fitness levels. Please read the full details including the pace and grade to ensure suitability for you/your family.  Please note that all children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

Your health & wellbeing

Please make sure you wear suitable clothing and footwear for your comfort, the walk and weather conditions, e.g. wet weather gear, sun hat – added. Consider applying sun cream and insect repellent. The walk details provide information on any toilets available nearby, along with any local places for food and drink. Please note that personal possessions are not covered by the walk insurance. Please note that a risk assessment has been written for each walk and is available to view on request; particular hazards, will be highlighted at the start of/during the walk.

A photographer may be taking photos on the day for future promotion by the North Wessex Downs AONB and the organisation leading the walk; they will be identified at the start of the walk.  If you do not wish to be in any photos, please let the photographer know.

Walk cancellations and changes

Walks will take place in all but extreme weather conditions?  We will endeavour to contact you by email or phone if a walk is cancelled.

Meeting arrangements

Meeting arrangements for each walk are clearly outlined on the walk details page. Where possible, public transport options are included. Please ensure you arrive in good time so that other participants are not kept waiting.  The walk leader may not be able to wait for you if you are late.

On the day contact

If you have any problems on the day of the walk, please contact the walk leader directly - if we have provided their details.

Otherwise you can contact the Walking Festival duty officer on 01488 680457 and you will then be provided with a mobile phone contact number.
