North Wessex Downs AONB Partnership Strengthened

New Chairman for North Wessex Downs AONB plus 5 new members for the Council of Partners.

The Council of Partners for the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) guides the work to protect and enhance this special landscape. At their recent meeting held this week at Clyffe Pypard the Council appointed a new chairman Ted Hiscocks and six new members.


Henry Oliver ,Director of the  North Wessex Downs AONB team said “The real strength of AONBs is that they are led by local partnerships and we are delighted now to have more than 30 people now on the Council representing a diverse range of interests.”


Ted Hiscocks, newly appointed Chairman of the Council, said "We are all most fortunate to be able to benefit from this beautiful part of the country. I am greatly looking forward to promoting the vision of the Council of Partners, and helping to support the dedicated team of officers, all of whom are striving to make the North Wessex Downs secure and sustainable for residents, visitors and those who work here."


Another new member, local farmer Peter Lemon said, “ having lived here all my life I am delighted to have been asked to join the Council of Partners and look forward to helping them to continue to look after and care for our countryside.”  


The new members of the Council of Partners are:

Ted Hiscocks – Chairman

Peter Lemon – Historic Environment

Nigel Titchen – Community and Parish

Andi Witcombe – NFU representative

Amanda Ingham – Nature and Conservation

Martin Crane – Recreation & Tourism
