We have just published the Annual Review of the North Wessex Downs AONB Partnership for 2012-2013. Please follow this link to read it:
Despite the economic climate and its effect on our and our partners’ working budgets, we are pleased to report that we have achieved much. As an AONB Partnership, and one of the family of nationally protected landscapes, we are uniquely placed to identify opportunities and enable collaborative action. For every £1 invested by our local authority partners, we were able to generate benefits to communities across the North Wessex Downs worth an impressive £6.81.
Core funding is vital to enable the work of the AONB Unit, and we are grateful to DEFRA and our nine local partner authorities for their continued support. To achieve greater things we need to secure more external resources, however. I am therefore delighted that over the past five years we have increased the amount of our non-core funding by almost 600%.
Our Annual Review is packed with examples of achievements and innovations the North Wessex Downs AONB Partnership is are bringing to our local communities. Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more or discuss any aspect of the work of the AONB Unit and the wider Partnership.
