This event is for woodland owners who want to get more out of their woodland, realise its potential and increase the value of their woodland asset.
The day will include talks from Nick Hoare, owner of Stourhead (Western) Estate, and Steve Russell, forestry management consultant, plus a choice of workshop sessions, where together attendees can explore the challenges of woodland management and discuss ways in which we can make it work for you. During the workshops we will specifically focus on what you want from your woodland, integrating woodlands into your business, making woodland management work for you, and optimising timber sales. In the afternoon there will be a site visit to Teffont Estate woodlands, where there will be the opportunity to discuss the results and benefits of ongoing woodland management.
We understand there are many challenges to managing small ancient or coppice woodlands, and we would like to hear your views on what the challenges are for you, and how we can help you overcome them. By the end of the day you will understand the potential of your woodland, who to contact and ask for advice, where to start and how to take the next steps in achieving what you want from your woodland.
This event is being organised by the North Wessex Downs AONB and Cranborne Chase AONB, with support from the Forestry Commission.
