By January, we expect the Government to have published two Green Papers on Food and Farming and the Environment. This follows a pledge by the main UK political parties before the last Election to publish a 25-Year Environment Plan. The EU Common Agricultural Policy has been the dominant influence on farming and the countryside for forty years. This Government consultation offers everyone a chance to have their say on the future of our landscape after the UK leaves the European Union. Critical issues at stake include how to encourage farmers and land managers to maintain and increase the so-called ecosystem services – thriving wildlife, productive soils, clean water, natural beauty, healthy food, flood management etc. – provided by our rural landscapes. We will be commenting both independently and as part of the national family of AONBs and National Parks. If you would like to contribute to our response please email Henry Oliver: email@example.com
. Watch our web site or visit www.gov.uk
for links to the Green Papers once they appear.
